Test Tuesday

Test on mitosis/meiosis/genetics on Tuesday 5/30/06

A practice test is available at http://www.docfleetwood.net/biology/studyguides/biologystudyguides.htm

Karyotyping Activity

Complete the Karyotyping activity at http://www.biology.arizona.edu/human_bio/activities/karyotyping/karyotyping.html

Nervous System Test

Anatomy test on Monday, 5/22/06 on the nervous system.  This includes the notes on the cns/pns, autonomic and somatic divisions, neuron structure and function/physiology, synaptic continuation of the signal, the neuromuscular junction, how muscles contract, rigor mortis, the brain parts and their functions, muscle identification (ie. trapezius), split brain syndrome and the other homeostatic imbalances on the handout given in class.

Homework 5/17/06

Complete DNAFTB # 21-24

Final Project Report

For the crime scene project you must….

Create a typed narrative report explaining what happened that fateful day to poor Dick and Jane Books.  Be sure to include a timeline of events.  You will state who killed them (or was it murder-suicide?) and explain any evidence you have to prove it.  The evidence reports should be in an appendix and include a brief (ie. paragraph) explanation as to the science behind that evidence (ie. how the test is done and how reliable it is etc…)

Finally, each individual will type a page as a reflection of what you have learned beyond specific content.  What have you learned about forensics or group work or completing a long term project or an open-ended project with little direction or work ethic etc…  The report should include what you will do differently on such projects in the future (ie. in college)  You will hand this in separately from the report.

Homework 5/11/06

You should watch the “dna replication” animation on my genetics page

You should complete dnaftb 18-20

Homework 5/9/06

Complete the mitosis/meiosis practice test located on my site at http://www.docfleetwood.net/biology/studyguides/biologystudyguides.htm.

Complete the dnaftb #15-17.

Work for Friday 5/5/06

Complete the case study and outline from Wednesday. For homework you should read and outline pages 373-383. Draw, understand and be able to
explain the graph on page 379 and the picture of a motor neuron on page 367.

Work for Friday 5/5/06

On my website - http://www.docfleetwood.net/biology/genetics.htm
– you should look over the 5 links under the “cell cycle”
section.

You should then go to dnaftb.org (DNA from the beginning) and
complete the first 14 sub-topics under “Classical Genetics”. For
each concept you should at least view the ‘concept’, ‘animation’
and ‘problem’ links. You should write down
the question and correct answers to all questions in the ‘problem’ links for
all 14 topics.

Work for Wednesday 5-3-06

Finish the case study from last week. Read and outline pages 363-372 (finish this for homework).
