You will have a genetics test on Thursday, May 31, 2007. The test will be the final grade for the quarter. It will be on the material covered in class, the packet handouts, the website (DNA from the beginning) and the chapters in your book, especially chapter 13.

Finish parts 2 & 3 of the biomatrices packet.

Due: Monday, 5/21/07

You will have a test on the various types of evidence you should have investigated while solving the crime scene.  You should know how these types of evidence are collected, analyzed and interpreted.  This test will make up a significant portion of your fourth quarter grade.

You will have a test on the nervous system, muscular system and integumentary system on Monday, May 21, 2007.  This test will make up a significant portion of your fourth quarter grade.  It will not contain the epidemiology information.

You should go to the  “DNA From the Beginning” website at http://www.dnaftb.org/dnaftb/1/concept/

Complete the 41 sections.  To do this you should read the concept and answer the ‘problems’.  If you are having trouble, be sure to view the animations or videos to help you.  If you still have problems, please see me to help you.

When you complete the problems you should write down the question and the answer in your notebooks.  You may abbreviate or reword but be sure you understand what the original questions was and what the answer is.  If I ask you to show me your notebook and ask you what the a particular question was, you should be able to answer me!

Read chapter 18 and complete the following:

Know the kingdom, phylum, class etc… for humans

Answer the  following chapter review questions:  RI 1; UC 2, Syn 1

Read chapter 9 and complete the following chapter review questions…

Read pages 373-390 (up to classification by structure) and page 394 (effects:excitatory vs. inhibitory)

Understand how a neuron carries information (action potential) and how it passes information on chemically at the synapse.  Be able to explain/interpret an action potential graph.

Know the following neurotransmitters in table 11.3: acetylcholine, norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, histamine, gaba

Soon after scientists discovered a mineral with the same constituents as Kryptonite (see here), astronomers have now found a new Earth-like planet.  What is interesting about this planet is that it has a red sun (just like Krypton) and it has stronger gravity than Earth (which would make an inhabitant of that planet appear super strong here on Earth).
